10th Annual SF Small Business Week Celebration

Celebrate the small businesses that shape our communities, define our neighborhoods, create jobs, drive economic growth, and make SF a world-class destination. This year, the Small Business Conference opens with remarks by Mayor Edwin Lee and City, State, and National small business leaders and features a Small Business Panel, “Innovating into the Future,” with SF Supervisor Mark Farrell (Moderator); Claudia Viek, CAMEO; Hunter Walk, Homebrew; Sam Mogannam, Bi-Rite Market; Gwen Kaplan, Ace Mailing; and Mary Huss, San Francisco Business Times.

The week’s activities are presented by the San Francisco Small Business Commission; U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA); the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce; Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center; the San Francisco Council of District Merchant Associations; the San Francisco Economic Development Alliance; the Golden Gate Business Association;; and presenting sponsor Bank of America.

Key San Francisco Small Business Week activities include:

  • The San Francisco Gala Kick-Off event, Flavors of San Francisco, May 12th, taking place this year at Square’s headquarters and featuring more than 20 local bars & restaurants, small business resource providers, and more than 1,000 members of the San Francisco small business community.
  • The Board of Supervisors Small Business Award Ceremony, May 13th, City Hall, where the San Francisco Small Business Commission, the Mayor, and the San Francisco Board of Supervisors recognize an exceptional small business from each of San Francisco’s 11 districts and citywide.
  • The Fourth Annual Small Business Conference, May 14th, including remarks by Mayor Edwin Lee, City and County of San Francisco; Donna Davis, Region IX Regional Administrator and Mark Quinn, US SBA; Emily Shanks, Senior Vice President, Bank of America; Demetrios Marantis, Head, International Policy, Government, and Regulatory Affairs, Square; Barbara A. Vohryzek, Deputy Director for Small Business, Small Business Advocate, California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz); and a pre-recorded welcome from Governor Edmund Brown.
  • Latino Entrepreneurs: Their Visions & Journeys, May 15th, Impact Hub, with a panel of well known and successful Bay Area Latino Entrepreneurs sharing their stories, journeys, and challenges.
