There’s a sad story out of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, involving a 107-year-old man, according to a Chicago Tribune report on Sunday. In the city located some-45 miles south of Little Rock, Arkansas, with approximately 48,000 people, police found it necessary to shoot and kill 107-year-old Monroe Isadore.
According to the report, a police SWAT team responded on Saturday to a home where Isadore had threatened two people by pointing a gun at them earlier in the day. The fatal shot that killed Isadore came on Saturday night after police removed the two threatened people from the home.
After removing the two, police entered to negotiate with the man, but he shot at them through a door. No policemen were struck by the gunfire, and they called for backup which involved a Special Weapons and Tactics unit. During the negotiations with the man, SWAT officers inserted a camera into the room where Isadore was, and they could see that the man had a handgun.
Negotiations failed and SWAT officers threw gas into the room. As they entered the room, Isadore fired shots at them again. That’s when they shot back and killed him.
Reportedly, the incident – in which no police were injured – is under investigation by the Pine Bluff police.
