Possible Game of Thrones season four spoilers ahead, so beware if you wish to remain completely unsullied.
Filming of Game of Thrones season four is well underway in several exciting locales, and with the action heating up on the set in Croatia, the mastermind behind it all has dropped some hints about what we can expect.
According to the UK's Metro on Saturday, book series author George R.R. Martin talked about what is going to be one of the biggest events of the season, and it's safe to say you haven't escaped crazy Westeros weddings just yet. This time around, the universally hated King Joffrey is set to tie the knot with Margaery Tyrell, officially merging two extremely powerful houses.
"It’s going to be the wedding of the year, and as memorable in its own way as our wedding last season," Martin said. "It’s what the fans call the Purple Wedding, based on the color of the wine, which plays a big part."
Let's just say that this one's going to have people talking just as much as last season's shocking "Red Wedding" massacre.
Of course, if you've read A Storm of Swords, the third book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, you know exactly what's going down and probably can't wait to see how HBO handles it. To give viewers a taste, ComicBookMovie.com has shared some leaked photos from the set in Croatia and by the looks of it, this wedding is going to be just as lavish as it is in the book.
"It looks spectacular, the bride’s dress incorporates roses, there are 77 courses at the dinner feast, and there’s some wonderful halftime entertainment," Martin said.
This is pure speculation, but could the "wonderful halftime entertainment" refer to Icelandic band Sigur Rós being cast for season four? The band reportedly shot a scene in Croatia and there are singers involved at the Purple Wedding, so perhaps they will play a jaunty tune for the wedding guests? We'll just have to wait until sometime next spring to find out just what they're doing at King's Landing.
