104th Great Tree Lighting at Walnut Room - Macy's on State Street

The holiday season kicks off at Macy's on State Street 104th Great Tree Lighting, in downtown Chicago, on November 5, 2011 at 12 p.m.. Guiliana and Bill Rancic are scheduled to host the event, which features a performance by the Chicago Mass Choir.

The theme for this year's Great Tree is "Macy's Star-Studded Believe Tree."  14 seven-foot trees will circle the base of Macy’s Great Tree, each featuring ornaments inspired by Macy’s celebrity designers, like Donald Trump, Jessica Simpson, Martha Stewart, Rachel Roy, Tommy Hilfiger and more. Each ornament retails for $10, with 10% of the purchase price benefiting the Make-A-Wish®  Foundation.

The Great Tree in the Walnut Room stands 45 feet tall and displays more than 2,000 holiday ornaments and 15,000 sparkling LED lights. Lunch at the Walnut Room is a holiday tradition for many, who particularly enjoy the pot pie while enjoying the Christmas Tree.

For the 4th year, Macy’s is bringing back their Believe campaign. Beginning November 5th, children across the country are invited to drop off their letters at Macy’s Santa Mail letterbox. For each letter received, Macy’s will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation up to $1 million to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses.
