The studio that blazed the trail for the rest of Hollywood turns 100 this year.
The first hint that Universal is celebrating is a change of logo which will be shown for the first time during the new film 'Dr. Seuss, Lorax' opening in March.
The next exciting event will be the release of several classic Universal films on blu ray.
The titles are;
All Quiet on the Western Front
Dracula
Frankenstein
The Bride of Frankenstein
Abbott and Costello's Buck Privates
To Kill a Mockingbird
The Birds
Pillow Talk
The Sting
Jaws
Out of Africa
Schindler's List
An impressive set of films, with the biggest stars and best directors.
No word yet on if these remastered films will have a theatrical release.
If you've never been to one of the parks, this would be an excellent time to make a visit. I've never been to the Florida park, but Universal Studios in Los Angeles is amazing.
There is a huge movie theater, where celebrities often wait in line to see the newest flick. There is a wonderful area called 'City Walk' with some great restaurants and shops. The Walk also has an attraction where you can skydive inside.
There is, of course, the Universal Amphitheater, which hosts the MTV Video and Movie awards and some of the best concerts in LA.
The very best part of the park is the studio tour. In the old days, when I was in high school, the studio often offered a glimpse or two of stars. Probably not so much now, as the studio is set up to be a ride more than a working studio.
