1002 awards Eagle Scout to Zach Buda

On Saturday, January 15, 2010, Boy Scout Troop 1002 held its first Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Zachariah Buda.

Zach is one of the first scouts to become an Eagle Scout under the leadership of Scoutmaster Julie Lardinois.

Approximately 200 people were in attendance to watch the ceremony unfold and also making an appearance was Senator Dave Hansen who presented Zach a plaque from the Wisconsin State Senate.

Five additional Eagle Scouts were also recognized for their continued support within the scouting program.

The Eagle Scout award is the highest award a scout can earn in the Boy Scout program and only one scout in 100 will ever complete the journey to Eagle.

Zach, was a member of Cub Scout Pack 4094, and as a Webelos Scout had earned all of the activity pins and most of the belt loop awards offered in the Cub Scout Program and has also earned the Par Vuli Dei Catholic Religious emblem as a Cub Scout.

For Zach’s service project, he and a group of scouts built 6 mallard duck houses for the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary which had been placed in the lagoon for the ducks to use as nesting sites.

Troop 1002 meets on Tuesday nights at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Green Bay.
