Apple announced yesterday that there are now over 100,000 apps released for the iPhone and iPod Touch on the app store.  This is an amazing feat considering apps are not even two years old yet.  Apps on the iTunes store seem to increase exponentially as the future progresses.

Like the commercial says, with over 100,000 apps, there is literally an app for just about everything you can think of.  Arcade classics have been ported, utility tools have been used, various entertainment apps made, and useful educative applications are there.  Now you can even follow your favorite team like the world champion New York Yankees and watch sports live on your iPhone with sports apps.

With 100,000 apps on the iPhone, it is proven to be the best smart phone on the market because it can do just about anything you want it to do.  It has more features than Derek Flint’s lighter in Our Man Flint.  The  future will prove to be bright for the iPhone as newer and better apps will be made that will make the iPhone triumphant in the smart phone wars.

The app store model is not sustainable. I have lots of apps installed but I only use NeuroMobile and a few others regularly. The rest of the apps were free and most of them I only used a few times. With this type of usage model which I think is typical developers can't be making money and will therefore not be able to continue offering their apps. Eventually all the free and junk apps will go away and the more popular apps will cost more.
