Built by Evolution Motorsports, the Porsche 996 GTXXX features 1000 horsepower and a top speed of 231.4 mph! Using the advanced EVOMSit tuning and build process, the once stock Porsche 996 is now a quadruple digit horsepower beast. Destroying the standing mile record at "Texas Mile" in spring of 2009, the Porsche 996 GTXXX with over 1000 horsepower is a modification monster.
Horizontally opposed six cylinder Porsche engine rebuilt to handle this type of power is a deadly combination with the unique aerodynamics and chassis balance only Porsche can provide. The ultimate in performance, the 1000 horsepower Porsche by Evolution Motorsports shook the automotive world on March 27, 2009. How did they do it? Very carefully! A horizontally opposed engine is not like other motors. These engines are much more sensitive to fuel conditions and are designed to run rich to keep the cylinder walls cool. The balance gains for handling and torque is great from a horizontally opposed engine, but you must account for gravitation wear caused by friction on the bottom side of each piston. The heat damage is offset by running more fuel than your typical V or inline engine which does not have the lopsided effect of gravitational friction.

So now we know how it's built, now what can it do? Well by watching the footage below we can join the ride that shook the earth and shattered Porsche standing mile records. Registering 231.4 mph, the 1000 horsepower Porsche 996 GTXXX flew through the Texas mile with ease. Pulling up to the line, you can hear that Porsche horizontal power plant churning over sweet music of performance! The go signal is given, and the Porsche roars off with a sound only hours of wrench time can provide. Slipping the tires through first and second gear, amazing torque of the H6 Porsche pushes it to the limit. A few seconds go by and 1000 horsepower and 231.4 mph later, a record is broken!
