That is exactly what Toronto Football Club did in the off season. Toronto FC management spent $100 million US dollars by signing US international midfielder Micheal Bradley from the Italian League's AS Roma, forward Jermaine Defoe from the Premier Leagues Tottenham Hotspur, Brazilian GoalKeeper Julio Cesar, forward Gilberto and Canadian National Team Captain Dwayne De Rosario.

Defoe opened his Major League Soccer account 17 minutes into the game when he received a perfect through pass from team mate Jonathan Osorio and right footed the ball to the back of Seattle Sounders FC net. US National Team Captain Clint Dempsey scored his first goal of the season for Seattle Sounders FC in the 68 minute to give the Seattle Sounders FC faithful hope.When the dust settled the hope was in vain and Seattle Sounders FC lost there first match of 2014.

Attendance was 38,441. Sounders next game will be a road game March 22nd vs the Montreal Impact. Toronto FC's game will be there home opener March 22nd against DC United.
