Good news for parents looking for something new for Easter-time fun. Peaceable Kingdom (www.peaceablekingdom.com) has created a cooperative game entitled Sunny Day Pond. It is a “100% green” puzzle game. It is a huge hit with game testers; winning the 2014 Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold!

The game was designed by Joyce Johnson and Colleen McCarthy-Evans. It is ideal for children ages three and up. The Oppenheim Toy Portfolio is “the independent guide to children’s media,” with products testers by children and families and evaluated by a noted industry expert in child development, children's literature, and education.

“Our testers loved (and were tickled) that the game play involves working on puzzles together. We loved that the game promotes both color concepts and visual discrimination,” says Stephanie Oppenheim of the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio. “And as always, Peaceable Kingdom has a unique way of making cooperative play both fun and engaging.”

Sunny Day Pond encourages players to work as a team to build the three animal puzzles before the rain comes. Players take turns spinning the spinner and adding puzzle pieces. Finish the puzzles before all of the rain drops are on the board and everyone wins! The game further encourages kids to work together to build their puzzles. This way, kids work together, learn together and they help each other; learning teamwork. A cooperative game eliminates stress, builds self-esteem, and teaches kids that playing together can be fun! Sunny Day Pond is the eighth game in Peaceable Kingdom’s “100% green” line, and is made from recycled paper, soy-based inks and corn-based plastics.

“Sunny Day Pond brings together my love for puzzles, games and cooperative play,” says designer Joyce Johnson. “We are honored to receive this prestigious Oppenheim Gold Award! And also so pleased to hear some early reviews that families are loving this game, especially the croaking, quacking and making fish-faces,” notes designer Colleen McCarthy-Evans.

“We are thrilled that Sunny Day Pond was honored with an Oppenheim,” says Peaceable Kingdom’s President Donna Jaffe. “The fact that cooperative games are celebrated by industry experts and families alike is so exciting.”
