A pit bull terrier in the small town of Wellston, Oklahoma is a hero. The 10 year old dog named Baby saved her family from a house fire Tuesday. After first waking the two sisters who shared the mobile home, Baby saved the women’s other five dogs.

Rhonda Westenberger and her sister, Evelyn, were fast asleep until their pit bull made a ruckus alerting them to the danger. They said Baby was pouncing on Evelyn and barking over and over until she woke up. Evelyn then awakened Rhonda.

The sisters were horrified with what they saw. "There were flames shooting down the hallway," said Westenberger. "If Baby hadn't woken Evelyn up, I don't think either one of us would have come out of it."

Baby even chased the other dogs out. One of the dogs was under a bed and Baby dragged on out by its neck and pulled it outside to safety.

The family lost everything in the fire, but are they are happy to have made it out alive and with all of their dogs.

"It brings my spirit up a lot to see the dogs," said Westenberger. "I'm so proud of Baby. She is my hero. She's the hero for all of us."
