Last week, I was bitten by the winter bah-humbugs and started writing about ways to remain upbeat and happy even when the cold of the season is keeping us trapped indoors. This week, the weather has been better, but it still won't stop the impending snow that is bound to come sooner or later. So this week I have added four more tips for loving the winter, even if you hate the cold. For tips 1, 2 and 3 visit last week's article.
4. Write, write, write. Take time to reflect on your life, accomplishments, goals and dreams. Start (or add to) a journal, write a book, write letters to family and friends – but keep your mind sharp and your pencil dull by writing often and working towards your dreams.
5. Purge and shred old financial statements and outdated paperwork. Go through old documents and get rid of things that you don’t need anymore. Be sure to shred anything that has personal or financial information to prevent identity theft. And don't just stop at the office. Tackle the recipe box, shopping receipts and any junk drawers or closets that attract piles of paper.
6. Host parties. Just because you’re stuck inside doesn’t mean you have to isolate yourself. Have a monthly dinner party. Host a movie awards show party. Invite your friends over for a night in. But remember to stay connected so the long months of winter don’t cramp your social life.
7. Movies, movies, movies. Is there anything more comforting on a cold day than a cozy outfit, a dark room and a bucket full of hot, buttery popcorn? Whether you choose a new release at a theatre or rent one to watch at home, winter is the perfect time to catch up on all those movies you wanted to see over the summer but didn’t want to waste a sunny day watching!
Check in next week for three more ways to enjoy the cold days of winter!
