10 - You've not invested in getting more information about your passion, on your own time and with your own financial resources. Have you joined a professional association or volunteered to share what you know to a youth group or a civic club. Doing these types of things will spark your imagination for what's possible for your in your professional area.
9 - You have not taken personal inventory? Who are you? What do you do? Have you ever asked your friends and family what they see as your strengths? Sometimes this type of insight will help you to get re-energized to try other areas that you are strong in.
8 - You have no idea what's available to you because you have don't read. You've not picked up a book since college. Dave Ramsey says that you are the same except for the people you meet and the books you read. My father Dave Matthews always would say to his family, "Read something. Learn something""
7 - You've not sought an expert. One simply expert for ways to enhance your career area is the occupational outlook handbook. It provides a full range of information about your career, salary, future trends and professional associations to join.
6- You tend to quit everything that you start. You started taking Spanish and quit. You started your certification as a yoga instructor and your quit. Make a commitment to finish all that you start. And if you must quit something, quit your sticking thinking and run to pick up Jon Acuff's book called Quitter.
5- You have too much clutter around you. I love a good dose of stuff everywhere, however, I also have learned how to value giving things away to free myself of old papers, books, clothing, extra utensils, cars papers, etc. I find I can donate to Goodwill, Salvation Army, The Well, A senior citizens community and be free! Sometimes to grow, you have to let go. This makes room for your new inspiration and new career direction!
4- You are eating too much sugar, salt, caffeine and processed foods so you tend to be sleepy all of the time. Being sluggish and sleepy hinders creativity. Ease up a bit.
3 - You are scared. It's been said that fear simply is false evidence appearing real. I say feel the fear and do it anyway.
2- You focus too much on the recession. Goodness, don't you realize that there are recessions every 10 years. It's just that 10 years ago you were loving life, living and single and grabbing life by the wheels. Now that you have more responsibilities you are full of worry. Try to focus on what you can do and not what you can't do. I love to say that need creates so much creativity.
1- You do not think that you can achieve and you are right. You have talked yourself into defeat, despair and disgust! You are a pitiful mess! Your past success, failures, triumphs and good deeds have not helped you to see that you have what it takes to re-invent your career. Get yourself a pick me up. Run to your HMO, Your free counseling sessions offered by your company or stop by my house so that I can slap you silly!
