Jan, you're sure to create a firestorm here! But your list is right on. I have several liberal friends and I observe the mean things they say to about Sarah on FaceBook. I wonder where's the love that liberals always talk about. They never attack her politics; instead they say things about her voice, her family, etc. It's sheer hate and meanness. I do think people are threatened by her.
Love it.
Great list, Jan. The liberals (at least the media and bloggers) personally attack her, instead of attacking her policies. There seems to be no respect for or her family at all.
OMG Sarah Palin is the WORST family value poster child EVER. In alaska we KNOW Trig is Bristol's (maybe if she runs you'll get a look at those medical records and no pregnancy like it was uncovered here and Bristol's minths out of school) We know her son did not enlist because he wanted to serve his country - he was given a choice, jail or join!We also know she was having an affair (listed in the divorce papers) and common knowledge!
I am a Christian Republican but I would vote (and support) a monkey before Palin!
And as her leadership qualities - she just QUIT as the rest of the truth was surfacing, what does that say about her character?
Thanks but NO thanks from everyone I know!
She adores her family - placing them above her career.
WHEN??????
She threw her daughter to the media to stop the questions concerning Trigs birth and stated "she didn't blink an eye before accepting the VP (which was a joke) offer" ANY GOOD parent would think long and hard about how that would have affected her family and had long, detailed family talks about it and then, together make the choice of her running or not. Not to mention she'd see her special needs child even less than she does now! But not Palin, she didn't blink and eye! What a pathetic example to mothers everywhere!
Well now. I don't know enough of the facts to say one way or another. I don't know anything about her personal family turmoil, so I can't answer Mrs. Watson and Wakeup say. All I know is that I like her presence and I like how tough she was against the oil companies, while still looking out for Alaska's interests.
How about number eleven - she's more intelligent than most of her critics.
The only thing I know about her is her "Drill Baby Drill!" which is nothing but pure ignorance. I don't hate her, but she doesn't impress me even a little.
I look forward to seeing her in the future. She is not done with politics. We need someone who is not afraid to say it like it is. Politics has become way too corrupt and I could add that the media is not doing to great a job either.
I am a liberal and a Christian and i am fascinated with Sarah Palin. Here is my view: I am afraid of her to the extent that she could advance causes and positions which I do not share. e.g. conservative Christian Political position most notably the right to choose in regards to the ugly (admittedly) act of abortion.
when she first came on the political scene i was afraid but after she showed in my opinion a tremendous lack of ability to lead at the national level in political office, i now am hoping that she "unites the Republican party". If she does the liberal America is insured of 4 more years of party dominance. Rightly or wrongly ( and i think rightly), Sarah Palin elicits a great amount of disdain for her intellectual shortcomings. She may have a fervent and loyal niche following but her mass appeal is limited. If she were to become the leader of the Republican agenda, then said agenda would be rejected. And that would be good for America.
Marie says: "The only thing I know about her is her "Drill Baby Drill!" which is nothing but pure ignorance. I don't hate her, but she doesn't impress me even a little."
Marie...who's the ignorant one? You state you only know one thing about her and yet you base your impressions on that?
Liberals love Sarah Palin because she all but guarantees a win if she runs for POTUS in 2012. I am a conservative and I wouldn't vote for her. Just because she is a Christian does not make her a good conservative politician, it makes her a Christian. She does not unite the party because she is not a fiscal conservative. She also has exercised incredibly poor judgment and has a problem keeping the truth straight. Yes, she resigned her position to protect her family - from the ongoing Federal investigation that will likely end up proving that she is just as corrupt as her brethren.
Keep on blindly following Palin, I am sure Obama and Co are looking forward to an easy campaign.
1- "Strong Christian values'...which is why her unwed teenaged daughter is raising a bastard child.
2- Her "infectious personality" has made her the butt of more jokes since Dan Quayle and Bill Clinton combined. "Folksy" is an asset in a kindergarten teacher, not the leader of the free world who has command of the most powerful military arsenal in the world.
3- "Powerful?" She was the mayor of a village (Wasilla doesn't rate the title of "city") that has a poulation of roughly 5000 people. My block has more than 5000 people. As the governor of Alaska, she led a state with less than 800 000 people. That puts her below the mayor of Edmonton, Alberta in terms of influence.
4- She used her family for political gain. Her husband and children were trotted out at every event (and New York City shopping spree). She took NO steps to protect them from the spotlight.
5- Granted. She does. What remains unmentioned, however, was the fact that she passed laws requiring rape victims to pay for their own rape kits during rape investigations.
6- Not the way she's going she won't. No one will elect someone who quit not only during her first term as governor, but from the commission she had been appointed to to root out corruption in the Republican party in Alaska.
7- See #6 counterpoint.
8- Did you actually SEE the Katie Couric interviews??? That's what you call articulation? The rest of the world calls it rambling incoherently.
9- If she could do that, she would have been tapped to do that by the GOP. Still waiting....
10- She's a flash in the pan whose time has passed. Pity. She was comic gold. Not since VP Dan Quayle has the late night hosts had such a rich source of material (Dave Letterman's tasteless joke notwithstanding).
Put plainly, she's not ready for the big leagues. She should go away and let someone better try it.
Yes, probably more of the truth will surface about Palin, which will just prove again how incompetent she is and how totally UNQUALIFIED she would be as a leader of our country. Sarah Palin as VP, a totally scary thought! Let her get into the race again (if the Repubician party is stupid enough to do that) it will be a sure win for Obama.
I have said repeatedly over the last 30 years that I will support any candidate of any party who convinces me they believe in three things: limited government, individual liberty, and free markets. These should seem like main stream American values, but it continues to be astonishing to me how few candidates fit the bill.
Low and behold, the 2008 election produced two candidates who fit the bill: Ron Paul and Sarah Palin.
Ron Paul, who I have supported for 20 years, led a beautifully exciting campaign but was completely marginalized by the media. This was something his campaign could not overcome.
Palin, who I had never heard of until McCain picked her, can not be marginalized. The media lives at its own demise if she is not covered. She gets attention and if the media tries to marginalize her, like they did Ron Paul, they lose.
So I have to support Palin, because she has convinced me that she believes in my requirements. And her media pull is simply a huge plus.
