Nancy Moser, author of "The Journey of Josephine Cain", "A Patchwork Christmas", "An Unlikely Suitor", "Masquerade", "Washington's Lady", "How Do I Love Thee?", "Just Jane", "Mozart's Sister", and "The Sister Circle" series answers 10 questions about her favorite time period in history, her favorite figures from history, and the age old question of coffee or tea.

1. If you could go back in time and be any figure from history, who would it be?

Jenny Lind. I would love to know what it feels like to make grown men cry when I sing!

2. What year in history would you have liked to live in?

1885, during the Gilded Age in New York City. Of course I would have liked to be rich and hobnob with the Vanderbilt-Astor set. It was a time when everything was changing because of new inventions and improvements to every day life. It was also a time where New York was teeming with immigrants, coming to America to go after the dream. It was a complex time.

3. You're having a dinner party and you can invite 5 people from history, who would they be?

  • Jesus
  • Michelangelo
  • Jane Austen
  • Martha Washington
  • Teddy Roosevelt

4. What castle from the past or present would you like to live in?

Drumoland in Ireland. We stayed there last fall and it was magical. We even had the tower suite. I felt like a princess.

5. Two fellow historical fiction authors you'd like to go on a history themed tour of the world with?

  • Stephanie Grace Whitson
  • Judith Miller

We are dear friends and already travel together and are collaborating on a novella collection about the women who served Civil War soldiers as they passed through on hospital trains in Illinois: The Basket Brigade.

6. Who was more dashing and interesting, King Henry VIII of England or King Louis XIV of France?

Henry VIII. At least in his younger years. He was a very complicated man in a very conflicted time.

7. Which of the six wives of King Henry VIII is your favorite?

Catherine Parr, the last one. She didn't want to marry him and was savvy enough to survive him. She took it upon herself to watch over Henry's children and was a good mother to them.

8. English monarchy or French monarchy?

English. I'm an Anglophile. Actually, I'm descended from William the Conqueror and Henry I. It stops there because my line detours through an illegitimate child of Henry.

9. What three novels could you read over and over?

  • "Gone with the Wind"
  • "The Help"
  • "Pride and Prejudice"

10. Tea or coffee when writing?

Coffee. Flavored.
