1. If you could go back in time and be any figure from history, who would it be?

Man, this is tough. I thought, Amelia Earhart! But things didn’t work out so well for her, did they? Besides, I get motion sickness. Then I thought, Jane Austen! But her life was no bed of roses either. So, what about Maria Von Trapp? I always wanted to be her when I grew up. I can’t sing, though. Do you think that might be a problem?

2. What year in history would you have liked to live in?

The 1890s. Not the depression years. The fun years. And as long as we’re doing the choosing, would it be in bad form to want to be well enough off to wear all those pretty dresses and hats? And to go to garden parties and the World’s Fair? Otherwise, the 1890s would stink. Just sayin’!

3. You're having a dinner party and you can invite 5 people from history, who would they be?

It’d be super cool if Jesus could come. Not like, in the rapture or anything. For dinner, I mean. Not that I’m worried about the rapture. I’m totally ready … okay. Dinner party.

Let’s see. Having Jesus there brings lots of other Biblical characters to mind. King David sounded like a fun guy. And Queen Esther. She was something else.

What about Mark Twain? Definitely Mark Twain. He has some of the best quotes ever. What a cut-up.

That’s four, right? One more? Hmmmm. Oh! Maria Von Trapp. Then she could play guitar, and we could all sing "My Favorite Things". Of course, with Jesus there, we wouldn’t need to be scared of thunderstorms.. Besides, I can’t sing. Did I mention that already?

4. What castle from the past or present would you like to live in?

Does the Disney castle count? No, wait! The beast’s castle. "From Beauty and the Beast" … that library, drooling. Yeah. The beast’s castle, for sure

5. Two fellow historical fiction authors you'd like to go on a history-themed tour of the world with?

LaVyrle Spencer and Pamela Morsi. Of course, the three of us all write America-set historicals. Still, that’s who I pick.

6. Who was more dashing and interesting, King Henry VIII of England or King Louis XIV of France?

Um, neither? Is this a trick question? Thank you, but no, to both of those.

7. Which of the six wives of King Henry VIII is your favorite?

The first one. I really felt for all of them, but if I can only choose one, I’ll go with the first one.

8. English monarchy or French monarchy?

Since I speak English, I’ll go with the English.

9. What three novels could you read over and over?

"Years" by LaVyrle Spencer, "Here Comes the Bride" by Pamela Morsi, and "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee.

10. Tea or coffee when writing?

I love coffee—especially with chocolate in it. But, sadly, I’ve had to give up coffee because it gives me headaches.

Since tea has caffeine also, I go with the caffeine-free varieties. Right now, I’ve been drinking Tazo’s sweet cinnamon spice, wild orange, and baked cinnamon apple.
