Still wondering what to watch on Christmas day after all the presents are opened? Rotten Tomatoes has compiled a list of the the highest rated Christmas movies for 2013. The list is quite surprising, as popular favorites like 'Home Alone' and 'Gremlins' get replaced with unknowns like 'Tokyo Godfathers' and 'Stalag 17'. Whatever the case, these movies are highly popular among the Rotten Tomatoes community and have made this years countdown.
While this list contains few unique titles, Rotten Tomatoes (RT) is confident that this is the fairest countdown of it's kind.
RT says on it's webpage;
In order to arrive at the results, we've used a weighted formula that takes the 'Tomatometer', the number of reviews, and the year of release into account. We also omitted television specials (sorry, How the Grinch Stole Christmas) and movies in which Christmas only plays a small part, no matter how memorably (tough break, The Apartment).
What RT is referring to is it's 'adjusted score' which is displayed in the countdown. The score weighs each vote equally, combining 'Approved Tomatometer Critics' and RT user votes into one approving voice.
