10 is terrific. The 10-year anniversary of the Gwinnett County Deltas

Who remembers when they turned 10? Or was is that long ago?

Many likely look at hitting the decade mark as a milestone. Double-digit longevity has a slightly different feel and air about it, in that one is able to look back at where they started, and look forward to what lies ahead.

In tandem with their national organization's 100 year celebration of their establishment on the campus of Howard University on January 13, 1913, along with the multiple celebrations leading up to this summer's national convention (ranging from their observance at Howard University in January, to their current "torch tour", and this current weekend's presence for the concurrent 100 year celebration of the Womens' Suffrage movement).

This coming weekend, March 8th-10th, the Gwinnett County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is celebrating their 10 year anniversary of their chartering. With a balance of social and service-related activities, the chapter's celebration, juxtaposed with their larger national celebration, should be an engaging way in which their story of community outreach and empowerment is shared with the greater Gwinnett County community.

On Friday, March 8th, from 7:30-11pm, the chapter is hosting its kick-off reception at the Berkeley Hills Country Club (2300 Pond Road in Duluth). The cosmopolitan-attired mature adult affair provides all in attendance an event reflective of the "Delta Way" of networking in a socially balanced setting. Tickets for the event are $35 per person, with proceeds supporting the chapter's community-based initiatives.

Sunday, March 10th, provides the public an opportunity to enjoy worship service with the chapter at Friendship Baptist Church (3375 Church Lane in Duluth). All are invited and encouraged to attend the 11am service; afterwards, an invitation is extended to attend lunch at Mimi's Cafe (1880 Mall of Georgia Blvd in Buford, GA).

Chapter members are encouraged to wear their cosmopolitan "Delta Red" for Friday evening's event, and their professional "Delta Red" for Sunday.

Service and social events are not only the order of the weekend for celebrating their 10 year anniversary of their chartering, but the manner in which members of the Gwinnett County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. give back to their servicing and immediate community. Intelligence is the Torch of Wisdom isn't merely a motto; it's a way of life that has been in existence for 10 years in Gwinnett County, and 100 years as part of its larger organization's mission and purpose.

10 never looked so terrific.
