Switching to an all plant based diet can be very scary to some. We have been programmed to believe meals should contain a meat, a potato and maybe a salad with a dessert. It can be hard to break away from the ideals our mothers and grandmothers instilled in us. However, to change, really make a difference in the world and save our animals, change is a necessity.
The first thing to consider is just because you will be adapting to a vegan diet, does not mean you cannot enjoy your favorite foods. One thing to remember is, you may slip up and eat a burger or other non-vegan food. After some time, you will not crave meat, cheese or dairy. The thought of meat will make you feel sick in time. Be patient with yourself as you teach yourself a new way to think about food.
Here is the list of surprising vegan foods:
· Peanut Butter Cap’n Cruch
· Quaker Instant Oatmeal (Most all varieties)
· Quaker Granola Bars
· Airheads taffy
· Most doughnuts
· Frozen fries or tater tots
· Flour tortillas
· Edy’s whole fruit bars
The list goes on and on. It will give you an idea how to eat vegan while still enjoying the same type of foods you are used to eating. Eating vegan is about finding the balance of eating the way you love and saving our animals and improving your health.
What was the most difficult part about eating vegan for you? How did you overcome it?
