Every year we buy wrapping paper, tissue paper and cards. Whether it be for a holiday or a birthday or just a special occasion. We love to give and receive presents.
This Christmas let's all give a gift to the planet by reducing the amount of garbage that goes into the landfill, and reusing wrapping paper in new and creative ways.
Here are 10 ideas to reuse and up-cycle used holiday wrap.
1.) Reuse wrapping paper! If you have paper that has survived Christmas, ironing the paper on a low setting is a great way to flatten wrinkles to store for next year. After you have ironed your paper just roll it back onto the tube.
2.) Have some crumbled up tissue paper? Great! Crumble two or three sheets of used colored tissue into a ball, and then smooth out. You will end up with a uniformly wrinkled look.
3.) Shred any excess paper, the shredded paper is an awesome way to create colorful filler paper you can use to decorate gift bags and baskets or to pad gifts you're shipping.
4.) What to do with all those beautiful Christmas cards? No more guilt over throwing out those awesome cards. Now you can up-cycle this year's cards for gift tags. You can use a craft punch or just cut out a gift tag shape and write your message on the blank side or, punch a hole in the tag and attach it to the gift with ribbon or yarn.
5.) Decorate a party, using wrapping paper, cut wrap into triangles, stick them to seam binding, and display for your next amazing party.
6.) Make a Bookmark, I love this idea. Cut a rectangle from an old cereal box and glue on the wrap, or old holiday card. or tissue paper. Punch a hole in the top and add a string tassel for extra decoration.
7.) Frame it and put it on the wall! I will admit some wrapping paper is so pretty, it is a fun way to make inexpensive wall art.
8.) Glue undamaged paper to card-stock to make greeting cards
9.) Have extra paper that you love, Line your drawers with it.
10.) If you have a card with embellishments, carefully remove and reuse!
