There have been many amazing hip-hop acts this decade but there have also been some flukes.  Many say that Soulja Boy help create a new movement within the southern hip-hop scene as he released many videos to his new projects on Youtube.  Others, such as the old school rapper Ice-T, will argue that Soulja Boy "killed hip-hop".  This decade hip-hop legend  Nas pronounced that the game was lacking substance and that it was heading in a downwards direction.  Many veteran MCs have blazed the microphones this decade, as well as a good new mix of some younger hip-hop phenoms, all who which contributed some way in this list of the top 10 albums of the 2000s.

10: Jay-Z's The Black Album  - The album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 Chart in 2003.

9: T.I.'s Paper Trail - T.I. began to write songs for the album as he awaited trial for federal weapons and possession charges.

8: Kanye West's Graduation - It concludes the college theme of West's previous two studio albums, The College Dropout and Late Registration.

7: Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP - In 2001, the album won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album and was nominated for Album of the Year, the first time a hip-hop album was ever nominated in this category.

6: Jay-Z's The Blueprint 3 - This album became Hova's eleventh number-one album which broke the record that he had previously shared with Elvis Presley.

5: Lil Wayne's The Carter III - Weezy's sixth studio album was named the top-selling album of 2008 in the United States, selling 2.88 million copies.

4: Dr. Dre's The Chronic - The album peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 and has sold over three million copies, which led to Dr. Dre becoming one of the top ten best-selling American performing artists of 1993.

3: Eminem's Encore - This album is not as raunchy as his past three albums, but it did provoke some controversy over anti-Bush lyrics and lyrics that made fun of Michael Jackson.

2: Eminem's The Eminem Show - The Eminem Show was Eminem's first album to be mainly self-produced, and was the first Eminem album to be released under Shady Records.

and the best album of this decade is...

1: 50 cent's Get Rich or Die Tryin' - Perceived as a classic upon its release, the album has been called the most hyped rap debut in over a decade.

Yes, so that is the list for the greatest albums of the 2000s.  Some albums may have been snagged a spot on the list such as Outkast's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, but overall the list would be compatible with most fans of hip-hop.
