10 best corporate career sites in 2014

See today’s best company career sites in a study released November 2013 by CareerXroads, a forum for some of America's top staffing leaders. Authors Gerry Crispin and Mark Mehler establish criteria for quality corporate career websites and name the companies that stand out in, “Fortune 500 Corporate Career Websites: How Far Have They Evolved?.” See which companies stand out the slide show.
Following the job seeker
Top sites in 2014 find job seekers, connect with people posting and answer their needs and relate to their situation. They treat job seekers with respect and make available the information they want in a reader friendly format. Putting the job seeker first with ease of navigation and access to information speaks positively about the organization and motivates people to visit the web site and spread the word.
Explaining the opportunities
Many opportunities emanate from taking a job with any given company. The organization is a “professional family” say Crispin and Mehler. They should be deeply committed to their employees. The corporation is not simply filling a position but is facilitating its workforce to build careers.
Ease of use
Creating easy to find career pages readily apparent on the corporate home page is essential. In fact, four in five home pages in the study had a prominent link to the career page. One quarter designed a convenient drop down menu. The positive first impression created by ease of use is immeasurable.
Covering all bases
Top career sites identify, highlight and provide pages for their audience. For example, three of four companies speak to college graduates. One in three organizations provide special sections for veterans or international candidates.
Less than one in five explain the expectations for the interviewing process used by the business. Only eleven percent provide a focus for diversity groups. Fewer provide statistics on the status of their diversity.
