Opryland's Christmas Display
At Christmas time we like to do things for the holidays to get the Christmas cheer going around, correct? We like to enjoy ourselves during the holiday season? But if we're into the whole Christmas thing, we also like to remember what Christmas is all about, right? Sometimes it's about the decorations and other times it's about the Christian belief. These ten sites are sure to spread holiday cheer your way.
If you like checking out Christmas lights, how about A Country Christmas at the Opryland Hotel? You get to see quite the light display! I hear they put up nearly 2 million lights! However, it's best to view this at night that way you can see the lights better. To walk around the hotel and view everything, there is no charge so what are you waiting for? Click here to check this out.
As if walking around is too much for you, there are two options. You can take a boat ride to view all the lights inside. Or you can take a carriage ride to see Christmas displays. How nice is that? Click here for more information.
You can even check out the Festival of Lights which is a scenic driving tour through the James E. Ward Agricultural Center where visitors get to view many lighted displays. How about that? You get to see Christmas displays from the warmth of your car. To check that out, click here.
You could also check out the Nativity Scenes Display in the Upper Room Chapel which exhibits its collection of nativity scenes with over 100 renditions from cultures all around the world. You could also get to see the woodcarving of Leonardo da Vinci's painting The Last Supper! If you like old art, you might want to see this. To check it out, click here.
There's even the Walk Thru Bethlehem presented by the Woodmont Christian Church. With this, you get to see a living recreation of the ancient city and remember the true meaning of Christmas -- the birth of Jesus. There's no admission charge for this either, so check it out by clicking here.
Another association with Christmas, is of course, Santa Claus. What child wouldn't like to sit on his lap and tell him what they want for Christmas? The children can do this at Santa's Workshop held by Dickens of a Christmas where they do a Charles Dickens re-enactment. You also get to decoarte ornaments and other crafts while there. Entrance fee is just two cans of food per person which will be donated to the Food Finders of Lafayette. To see when you can check this out, click here.
Being from New York, I usually associate snow with Christmas. With moving to Tennessee, so far I've seen one morning with snow falling (but that didn't even stick to the ground.) So when I found Winter Wonders held by the Adventure Science Center, you can only imagine my excitement. With Winter Wonders, you can walk through the Winter Village with snow actually falling! Sure it might be fake, but for those who aren't going to be having snow on Christmas morning this year, this might be the best thing. You could even have breakfast with Jolly Ole St. Nick! To check out more about this, click here.
If you're all about the food, how about taking a cruise that lasts from 2.5 hours - 4 hours depending on whether you choose breakfast, lunch, or dinner. All cruises include music and comedy on the General Jackson and you're being fed. What more could you ask for? To check out more about this, click here.
Another attraction you could visit and many kids would enjoy is the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory play held at the Nashville's Children's Theater. What's better than going through the whole experience of Charlie finding the last golden ticket and being amazed by all the wonders of the factory? To view play dates and purchase tickets, click here.
Of course, I saved the best for last. The Rockettes are usually a New York favorite, correct? But how about making them a Nashville favorite too? They have been performing at the Grand Ole Opry House for a few years now and are returning this year too. How about checking them out? Simply click here to get more information and book tickets.
Happy Holidays!

I saw Opryland Christmas lights around Halloween. I think they said it takes six months to set up the decor. I was delighted to finally visit Nashville, and Memphis. Marsha, D.C. Arts & Travel Examiner.
Wow, that's amazing! It must be really beautiful then. Hopefully I'll be able to check it out on my own someday. :)
