10 Beauty trends for Spring (Video)

Along with Fashion trends changing each season, so do beauty trends. During winter, makeup is usually a bit darker and vampy; however, with warmer weather (hopefully) right around the color, it is time to ditch those dark colors and replace them with bright colors that coincide with the beautiful flowers that will be blooming.

  1. Bright Shadow. The smoky eye has been all the rage lately and you can still achieve this look, but opt for bright and fun colors as opposed to the typical greys and blacks. E.L.F. Eyeshadow Palette from Target for $15.00.
  2. Glowing Skin. There is nothing better than having healthy skin. So, instead of over-doing the tan right off the bat, take up on a new skin care regime. Make sure to exfoliate, to get rid of the dead skin cells and moisturize with spf. Also, add some creamy concealer to add a glowing and dewy finish. If you do not have sensitive skin, you can even opt for one with shimmer in it! Neutrogena Healthy Skin Glows (already with spf) $10.79 at Target.
  3. Graphic Eyeliner. Whether you are going out to some sort of fun event or are just in the mood to make heads turn, this trend is perfect for you! Graphic eyeliner has been all over the runways lately, make graphic lines however you want (think Edie Sedgwick) and for an added punch, do it with colorful eyeliner! Almay Liquid Eyeliner Pen for $7.70; perfect to make crisp lines.
  4. Neutral Nails. Ironically, while everything else is about bright colors and making statements, the trend for nails is actually the opposite...neutral! Neutral nails are extremely classy, elegant and feminine. they also are perfect if you are an avid ring wearer. Shimmer Nude Polish, $2.80 at Forever 21.
  5. Relaxed Hair. This look is extremely effortless and gives a new meaning to "bed-head", while looking like you did nothing to it, you still look put together. Apply a serum to your hair after showering and let it air dry. A bonus trick, that I personally live by, is to add loosely braid your hair and sleep on it. When you undo the braid in the morning, you will have perfect loose waves. Suave Keratin infused Serum, $3.99 at Walgreens.
  6. Rosy Cheeks. It has been "proven" in a study that men love when women have "flushed" cheeks. So, don't shy away from bright rosy cheeks! Also, as Carmindee says (from What Not to Wear) go for the very bright colors because they do not look that bright on your cheeks, but actually pretty translucent. Maybelline Bouncy Blush, $6.44 at Walmart (available at drugstores and Ulta as well though!).
  7. Slicked Hair. This trend can look extremely cool, but make sure not to over-do it because then your hair will look greasy, not slicked and wet. Apply gel from roots to about halfway and let the rest fall naturally or wear it as a slicked ponytail. Hair Control Slick, $10.00 at pomades.com.
  8. Bold Brows. Back in the 90's everyone was busy plucking out all of their eyebrow and then drawing it back on with the skinniest line possible. Well, those days are long gone. Bold, natural brows are in now! The boldness of the brow adds a masculine feel, which is not bad as it sounds. It also adds structure to a feminine face. This eyebrow palette from wet n wild is perfect for achieving the perfect shape while also filling out any "bold spots". Not to mention, it is only $3.99.
  9. Natural Lashes. While false lashes are appropriate for photo-shoots or parties, to make a statement, natural lashes are in for every other day. This Physicians Formula Mascara is splendid and organic so it will not ruin your lashes. It is $9.99 at Ulta and also available at local drugstores.
  10. Matte Lips. Matte lips look super cool and edgy and matte is also extremely popular, especially with lips and nail polish. Matte lipsticks are avaialable in a variety of colors, so take your pick! Rimmell features a line of matte lipsticks co-created by Kate Moss. The colors range from a blush pink to vibrant red and even dark plum colors. Even though it is matte, the feel is very creamy and it does not dry your lips out. It also lasts pretty long ( I know from personal experience and must say that it is by far my favorite matte lipstick). Not to mention they are only $4.99!
