Westboro Baptist Church is no stranger to generating controversy, and a punk group that fancies itself "the sleaziest punk band in the world" recently decided to retaliate.
According to Uproxx today, punk outfit Get Shot! successfully managed to sneak onto the Topeka, Kan. church's front lawn and film bass player Laura Lush pleasuring herself in the buff. It's definitely not the first time a group set out to antagonize the universally disliked church: you may remember the group of satanists who held a "Pink Mass" over the grave of WBC founder Fred Phelps' mother over the summer in an attempt to turn her "gay in the afterlife."
In a press release on their Facebook page, Get Shot! released a statement on why they decided to make the video.
“The Phelps family and Westboro Baptist Church are ridiculous and do nothing except spread hate and cause controversy," bassist and star of the film Laura Lush wrote. "As a bisexual woman and the bass player of a ridiculous punk band, I wanted to spread my legs and cause controversy.”
Much like members of WBC tend to do on Twitter after an untimely death or national tragedy, members of the band tweeted several accounts associated with the church group with the same message, which reads "We filmed a porn on your lawn. You really need to hire a new gardener." The Sacramento, Calif.-based band has also started getshotgirls.com, its very own adult website that now hosts the uncensored Westboro film.
Band member J.P. Hunter said they would return to Topeka with "a group of girls and a whole camera crew" in a few months. That is, if they can get someone to bail them out of prison.
