If you're a fan of Hershey chocolate but like to change it up with your candy choices every once in a while, the Pennsylvania company announced today that it will soon be unveiling a new brand of candy to satisfy your sugar craving.
In January 2014, The Hershey Company will release a line of soft creme candy under the Lancaster brand. Inspired by Milton Hershey's first confection business, The Lancaster Caramel Company, Lancaster will be the chocolate giant's first new non-extension or acquisition brand in 30 years.
"The launch of Lancaster Soft Cremes takes Hershey back to the early days of our founder Milton Hershey and his truly innovative spirit and desire to make great tasting, high-quality products for consumers," Hershey senior VP of Sweets and Refreshment Steven Schiller said in a press release announcing the new brand.
Hershey has already achieved a milestone with Lancaster by releasing it in China earlier in 2013, marking the company's first brand launch outside the United States in its 120 years of existence. Distribution in China, which began with three cities, is expected to increase in 2014 as well.
The press release notes that Lancaster Soft Cremes will be available in caramel, vanilla and caramel and vanilla and raspberry flavors and come in both three-ounce and four-ounce bags when it is released stateside in January.
