Here is a great deal for those of you who love UAB, love basketball, or just love supporting a very worthy cause. You may be aware that the UAB Women’s Basketball team will be playing UCF in this year’s “Pink Game” for breast cancer awareness. What you may not know is that by visiting UAB Pink Zone you can download and print a flyer that will get you into the game for only one dollar. The game is this Friday at 7 p.m.
The first 500 fans get free UAB Pink Zone T-Shirts and shakers. Last year the event raised over $7000 for research and brought in a record crowd to a UAB Women’s game of 5’588. For more complete information check out fellow Examiner Vince Ferrara’s article here.
Currently the UAB Women’s basketball team stands at 10-11 overall with a 4-5 mark in C-USA. UCF enters the game at 6-12 overall and 3-6 in the conference. The Blazers need to win this one not only for the fans that will be there to take part in a special evening, but also to save their season. UAB opened conference play at 4-0, landing in the number one spot on C-USA before losing their last 5 conference games in a row.
The doors open at 6 p.m. for the pre-game events. The game itself begins one hour later at 7 p.m. at Bartow Arena. Check out UAB Pink Zone for complete information on the evening's events. Also be sure to check out more information on the WBCA Pink Zone program.
Surely you can find the time and the one dollar to spare to help support not only the UAB Blazers, but a cause as vital as cancer research and awareness.
