1-on-1 w/Rece Davis on NCG, Bama, new coaches & SEC fatigue

I had a chance to spend 20 minutes visiting with ESPN personality Rece Davis to talk about the BCS National Championship Game, college football and the Capital One Cup that he’s involved with.

Hear my Examiner.com exclusive one-on-one conversation with Rece Davis here.

Rece Davis has been with ESPN since 1995. He’s the in-studio analyst for college football and basketball shows on ESPN, including College GameDay. He’s also added play-by-play duties for both since 2010.

I have tremendous respect for Rece Davis. He’s smooth, relaxed, prepared and brings the perfect blend of humor and thoughtful points to his on-air work. He often brings out the “I was thinking the same thing” reaction from me when watching him on ESPN. He is as likeable a broadcaster as you will find in any medium. He’s one of the best sports broadcasters on TV today.

Rece and I discussed Alabama’s 42-14 win over Notre Dame in the BCS National Championship Game, the Crimson Tide’s recent dominance, SEC fatigue, the new football coaches in the SEC and more.

Rece Davis is in his second year on the Advisory Board for the Capital One Cup, a NCAA athletics award honoring the top men’s and women’s college athletics program in the country.

The SEC is represented in the just-released Capital One Cup Standings by these teams…

Florida – #39 men’s, #13 women’s

Alabama - #1 men’s

Georgia – #10 men’s

Texas A&M - #16 men’s

South Carolina - #22 men’s

Arkansas - #46 men’s
