The Foundry Gallery hosts a Second Open House Membership Drive on September 25, 2010

The Foundry Gallery, one of Washington's oldest cooperative galleries, is having it’s second open house membership drive for prospective members on September 25, 2010. Robert Weiner, Larry Chandler, Tanya Meski became new members during the first Open House in June as well as the Gallery’s newest member, abstract artist Julia Latein-Kimmig who joined in August. 2010

Since 1971, artist-run Foundry has encouraged and promoted local artists; As a non-profit organization, 23 current Foundry members contribute to the educational mission of the Gallery by planning and implementing community outreach programs through art workshops with the local audience as well as conducting silent auctions which benefit local art endeavors, such as the Duke Ellington School, here in DC. Membership fluctuates, including figurative, abstract painters, sculptures, mixed media artists and photographers like Holly Foss, who has been with the Foundry since September 2003. Three of Holly’s photos are in City Hall Art Collection in Wilson Building, home to the Mayor's office.

Full membership ($150 a month) includes a solo show every two years, a portfolio at the Gallery and on the Gallery’s website, a monthly members’ show at the Gallery, as well as access to “bin” sales;

Portfolio drop off of materials is between 12-3 p.m. and pick up of work between 4:30-5:30 p.m. on September 25, 2010.

The Foundry is looking for 5 additional Full members and 5 new Associate members.
