Having been a washout on Saturday, Via Colori was in full color on Sunday afternoon. Artists finally came out about 10am on Sunday in order to paint the street with pastel in support of The Center for Hearing and Speech.
Some of Houston’s most talented pastel painters were on hand painting the streets of downtown. The colors shown fabulously in the bright sunshine. Many of reserved places were vacant after Saturday’s rain but most of the artists who participated are diehard and it showed in their work.
Some of the artists are well known names around H-town such as Anat Ronan, Heidi Powell-Parrera, Lilibeth Andre, Marlene Llanes, Keith Moy, and Sarah Hazel. Other artists were from as far away as San Antonio like Cecelia Linayao. There was an entire section set aside for each of the school districts in Harris County and also a section where small children could lend a hand and take part in the painting festivities.
Add the live music and food tents into the mix and the whole day was perfect for bringing out the best that Houston has to offer.
Via Colori benefits hearing impaired children of Houston by the generous donations to The Center of Hearing and Speech by businesses that sponsor each street canvas. The Center is the only full-service resource in Houston to teach deaf children to listen and speak without the use of sign language.
