Pink drinks, fireworks, live music, and ladies in great bras!
Opal Divine's celebrates all that is Pink this Fourth of July with front row seats to the city's fireworks display on Auditorium Shores. This July 4th Opal Divine's is hosting a breast cancer awareness event at the Freehouse downtown featuring live music from Suzanna Choffel (soul/pop - winner: Famecast, Ourstage, AMA's) and Edison Chair (3-piece teen rock band). Opal's "Drink Pink - See Red, White, & Blue" fourth of July party from 6pm at the Freehouse downtown will feature art bra calendar models signing BCRC calendars and helping to provide info on the organization. The calendars will be offered as a complimentary gift with a donation to the BCRC – donate $1 or $1M and you will get a calendar full of celebrity and artist created, survivor modeled bras that have sold for $100s! There will also be a limited run of Drink Pink t-shirts available for $12 also benefiting the BCRC. Opal Divine's & the Breast Cancer Resource Centers of Texas (BCRC) “Drink Pink” Campaign invites Austin to raise a glass to survivorship throughout the summer with Opal's donating their upcharge for their Pink Prickly Pear Mix to the BCRC ($0.50 per glass & $1.00 per shaker).
When Susan Parker (Opal’s granddaughter and founder/proprietor) was diagnosed with breast cancer, she discovered the BCRC through her doctor. Her husband and business partner, Michael, said “The BCRC wellness tote at the doctor’s office was one of the first things to provide some sort of hope in the early stages of our dealing with the diagnosis.” The Parkers extend an invitation for the community to be a part of this opportunity to give back in a fun way - just drop by any Opal Divine's and "Drink Pink". The addition of the non-alcoholic Prickly Pear Mix turns an Opal's World Famous Rita pink.
"Opal Divine was my grandmother's name. She was a woman who enjoyed good music, good friends, good drink and a good card game. In honor of her we bring to you Opal Divine's Austin Grill. Please enjoy this establishment with the same spirit for which she lived" -Susan Parker, Proprietor
