The Austin Art Garage is hosting a new exhibit by painter Dan Grissom. The series of fresh work is simply titled New Collection and will open on July 16th with a reception from 5:30 to 9pm at J Black's Feel Good Lounge (710 West 6th St.). Admission is free. Dan Grissom, one of the first artists to be represented by the Austin Art Garage gallery, has refered to his work as "a collection of someone else's memories, fuzzy dreams, miscommunications, and unfinished images". The quirky, bizarre imagery utilized in his pieces are painted on thick wood with frames that have depth (2-4"). Grissom's ability to tap into a surrealistic alternate world that invokes a certain light hearted notsalgia in its audience is uncanny, his style distinct and memorable.
