Senior Anthony "Juice" Leon was moved to linebacker this year in hopes that the Hogs can get more speed at the position. The Miami native seems to made his coaches look good after his performance Saturday night against Tennesee Tech.
The fast-moving, big-hitting linebacker led all Razorbacks with eight tackles, six solo. Leon seemed to be in the backfield every time the Hogs needed a big play defensively. He showed his speed and his impact several times recording four tackles-for-loss for a total of minus 20 yards.
At times, Leon seemed unblockable as he helped the Hogs hold the Golden Eagles to three points, 187 yards total offense and no touchdowns.
As a team, Leon led the Hogs to a total of 10 tackles-for-loss and a total of minus 43 yards.
The one thing the Hogs needed coming in to 2010 was a defense that brought the pressure, and in this first test, they seemed to have graded out high. If the other defenders can follow Leon's lead, this defense can be a key part of the team.
Tennessee Tech is not Georgia or Alabama, but it was good for the defense to have some success early giving them confidence for the weeks-to-come as the Hogs will step up in competition with each passing week.
