After Saturday’s three touchdown performance by former Wildcats’ tight end and current New England Patriot Rob Gronkowski, Arizona football is still being well represented in the NFL playoffs.
Former Wildcats Brooks Reed and Earl Mitchell of the Houston Texans will look to keep it going.
The Texans rolled through the first round of the NFL playoffs last weekend with a 31-10 thrashing of the visiting Cincinnati Bengals.
Led by Reed, Mitchell and the rest of the defense, Houston didn’t allow a single score in the second half.
The Texans’ top five D held the Bengals to 65 yards rushing as team, including just 14 yards on 7 carries for Cincinnati’s leading rusher Cedric Benson.
Houston also got in done against the pass, recording four sacks, three interceptions and nine break-ups.
Fast-forward seven days and the Texans are now in Baltimore getting set to take on the Ravens in the Divisional round (Happening now!).
In case you missed last week…
OLB Brooks Reed #58
- Last week: 5 tackles (3 solo) a sack, TFL
After ripping off a five-game sack streak back in November, teams began adjusting to Reed.
His production slowed to end the regular season but…he’s baaaaack.
Reed registered his first sack in six weeks as well as the most tackles he had in over a month.
DT Earl Mitchell #92
- Last week: 4 tackles (3 solo), a sack, TFL, pass def.
Mitchell continues to be more of a force up front recently.
It took all of one playoff game for him to match his regular season sack total of…one.
Mitchell also managed to turn in four or more tackles for a fourth consecutive week.
He even chipped in a batted pass for a second straight week.
Be sure to check out the game…
