Arizona ghost hunters have a new book to use as a reference before their next big investigation. “Arizona’s Haunted Hotspots” by Heather Woodward (Schiffer Books 2011) gives the reader a peek at some of the popular locations where ghost activity has been reported.
The front section of the book focusses on the History of Spiritualism. It talks about early mediums and psychics such as the Fox Sisters, Sir Arthur Conon Doyle, and the pioneers of paranormal investigations.
The back portion of the book discusses Paranormal Investigating. Woodward gives the reader a list of ghost hunting tools and how to use them, explains ways to use protection before and after the ghost hunt, and talks about EVP and other paranormal terms.
Ghost stories from four haunted cities of Arizona grace the center section of the book. The chapter on Tucson’s hot spots was very informative. There were several new stories about locations rarely found in any other Arizona ghost story collection. Readers will enjoy learning about the ghosts at the Southern Arizona Transportation Museum, and Centennial Hall on the University of Arizona Campus. The chapter also mentions the strong ghostly presence of artist Ted De Grazia who is often felt within The Gallery of the Sun Studio in Tucson.
There are also chapters on Tombstone, Jerome, and Sedona—the latter two cities were also featured in an earlier Woodward book.
Readers are bound to enjoy the many pages of reference and definitions in their work, and will be looking forward to more “Arizona’s Haunted Hotspots” down the road.
