This is not the guard house but it is close
During a bike ride up the fabled Las Vegas Strip Thursday afternoon, I happen to see a retro Atomic-Age guard house. Unfortunately, I am so busy trying not to be hit by cars that I skip the pausing to take a photo part of my never-ending search for current built environment fodder. Back at the temporary studio of Apparatus, a Google Map search for said guard house reveals that most of the GM images of the Strip are night time shots. So the view of the guardhouse does not seem to be legible. While we wait for the motivation to risk physical injury further, I sample two structures that give the reader some Idea of what to expect. (One is a car)
If you find yourself Northbound on Las Vegas Blvd. North of Russell, look for the guard house to the right, it will be a small glass and stainless steel structure shaped like an airstream trailer in plan but with extruded planer sides.
Feel free to snap a photo and send to this author. First person to do so will win a free design critique of a building of their choice, by this author.
Update: As of 3:29pm, 20 Sept 2009 no one has braved the heat to snap a pic of the guard house (and I can't say that I blame you)
