Juno Nemesis Remix Review

I've been going through some of the games on my home built arcade cabinet lately and have been spending some time playing the game Juno Nemesis Remix.  This game was release way back in 2003 but still packs a lot of fun and replayability.  Juno Nemesis Remix is a new spin on the classic games like Gyruss and Tempest.  In Juno Nemesis Remix you must defeat a powerful super computer known as Juno as you pilot your ship through cyberspace and blast enemies as they crawl up the many different vortex type levels.

The game play in Juno Nemesis Remix is fluent and fast paced.  It plays very well with a trackball or spinner for controls but is not as good with a keyboard or mouse.  You really need a trackball or spinner to get that true classic Tempest feeling that the game tries to emulate.

I like the many power ups that you can unlock as you go further in the game.  Some of these include different types of blasters, shields and other add ons.  The graphics are also decent for the time period that this game was released and fit its cyberspace theme with many vibrant colors and effects. The sound is also pretty good with a bumping soundtrack and lots of cool noises for different blasters and explosions.  The sub woofer in my arcade system really picks up the thick tones and makes the room shake if you crank up the volume!

One gripe I do have about the game is that there could be more levels developed as the game can be played through rather quickly.  Also the enemy’s patterns become predictable after a while. Other than that the game plays pretty solid.  Compared to other Tempest and Gyruss remakes Juno Nemesis is definitely one of the better ones out there.  Not quite as good as Typhoon 2001 but a close second in my book.
