Paul V. Stutzman, a retired restaurant manager from Berlin, Ohio, decided to take the journey of his life by hiking the entire Appalachian Trail from beginning to end. His story is chronicled in his new book “Hiking Through”.
One must not take lightly the rigors of hiking a 2,176 mile hike. Though Paul Stutzman made his decision to hike only two months beforehand, most hikers plan their journey a year in advance. Paul is not your average hiker.
After losing his beloved wife to cancer, Paul decided to leave his job to search for answers on the Appalachian Trail. The hike through on the Appalachian Trail would not be an easy one. Paul knew his mission for being there, and the overwhelming desire to finish, was what kept him going.
Paul was accompanied by others who he would meet while hiking through. Everyone on the trail had a trail name, and most would pick their name before beginning their journey. Paul’s trail name was “Apostle”. Which would be a fitting name for someone who was on a profound discovery with God and nature.
Paul’s story is truly inspiring. He went into nature for a reason, and his decision will have forever changed his life. More about Paul’s story and his book can be found on his website: http://www.hikingthrough.com.
