The beautiful Utah Cultural Celeberation Center hosts for the second time an art exhibit of Brain Baity that includes filigree carvings on different eggshells ranging in size from quail eggs to ostrich eggs. The eggshells are profoundly designed and hand carved – types of art that is more characteristic of lace. Last year Baity was a winner of the 2009 Best of Utah Award for his contributions to art in Utah. One of his eggs was also on display at Forbes Art Gallery in New York.
Brian Baity donates some of his works to charities. Most recently he has chosen the Huntsman Cancer Center as the recipient organization for his contributions. In August 2009 The City Council of Vermillion, South Dakota, mailed him an official Proclamation of Appreciation thanking me for the carved ostrich egg shell he gave to the city to commemorate their sesquicentennial celebration.
Egg carving is a handcraft that emerged independently in different parts of the world – from China to Australia. Brian Baity is among the best American contemporary egg carvers. The visitors of his new art show at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center have unforgettable minutes of aesthetic satisfaction. Some of them may see such craft for the first time or may decide to attend special craft courses organized for instance, in June in Dallas.
