Old School Trainers Update on Pokemon Types

Pokemon types are changing

In the beginning (the Kanto region of Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle), there were seven types of pokemon. The elemental types were fire, water, grass and electric. Then there was a small category for the more physical types and they were called fighting. The opposite of fighting was known as psychic and when a pokemon did not fit into any of the other categories, they were labeled normal.
Now there are even more types of pokemon that trainers must juggle. Since the demand for more pokemon has been great, the types of pokemon have multiplied.
Fighting types use to include pokemon such as Onix and Geodude, but now they have their own category: rock.
Psychic was once home to Gastlys and Gengars, but they haunt in their own group labeled ghost.
Back when Pokemon just came out, Pidgey and Dragonite were normal type pokemon and Caterpie were grass. The spectrum of Pokemon has evolved and given birds a flying type category. Also, if it looks like a dragon, it is now a dragon type and bugs are self labeled as…well…bugs.
There are also a few newer types that old school pokemon trainers will want to look at if they have not been training with the newer pokedex.
Onix evolves into Steelix, which is in the new category of steel type Pokemon. Steel types are weak against fire. Make sense since if you know how to weld metal.
Eevee helped introduce the dark type Pokemon with its Umbreon evolution.
The status effect of poison was bad in and of itself, but now a pokemon that can do that is either fully or partially labeled a poison type Pokemon. Just for a heads-up, Vileplume is not only grass, but also poison.
With the addition of a wintery-area in the game and anime, there are also ice type Pokemon including a new Eevee evolution: Glaceon. Watch out if you use Glaceon, though, because the ice this Pokemon uses is easily defeated by fire types.
Wooh! That is a lot of different types of Pokemon to cover if you have not played in a while. Have no fear, though. Your friends at pokefarm are more than happy to help you through the transition. What kind of pokemon are you?

There are so many types it ain't funny. The types are confusing, so things like this can help.I like the image for the energy cards, though.
