Harpo is a young boy with a fused jaw who needs a little help in getting his second chance

Harpo, a male American pit bull terrier, is truly a special boy who is displaying a strong and bright spirit. K9 Justice League pulled Harpo from Chesapeake Animal Control just last week to help him get his second chance.

Harpo suffered a broken jaw that was left untreated. The lack of treatment caused the bones in his jaw to fuse together, resulting in an inability to open his mouth. Initial vet consultations have said that there is not a surgical option to correct this or increase his jaw mobility. K9JL will be consulting with a specialist - an orthopedic surgeon on September 7th - to see if there are any options to improve Harpo's jaw. The consultation alone will cost over $100, and any donations would be greatly appreciated.

In addition to the condition of his jaw, Harpo is emaciated, with a poor body condition and is also battling a respiratory infection. Through all of this, he has shown a strong spirit and that these things will not hold him back from enjoying life.

Due to his lack of jaw mobility, Harpo can only eat canned, wet food and drink water. At the moment, he is eating 2-3 cans of Science Diet canned puppy food each day. If anyone would like to donate food directly to K9JL for Harpo's care, it would be greatly appreciated (information below).

Harpo is a special needs dog who will need a great deal of care before being put up for adoption and will then need a loving family who will continue his care and provide for his needs. He is currently settling into his temporary foster home and will soon be assessed by K9JL.
