Marie is the founder and president of Forte Animal Rescue, and is a former Commissioner on the Board of Animal Services Commission, appointed by the City of Los Angeles' Mayor Villaraigosa. After she served on this volunteer position for two years, the City Council appointed her to the city's Spay/Neuter Advisory Committee, which oversaw the mandatory spay/neuter ordinance when the law became in effect. On this Committee, Marie received her 4th Certificate of Recognition from the City Council.
