Coming in second place on American Idol hasn't stopped Adam Lambert one bit--nor even slowed him down. Quite the contrary, since pre-sales of his upcoming CD have already jumped to No. 1 on the Amazon.com Bestsellers list as of this writing, even though his debut album won't be released until November 24th.
According to the New York Daily News,
What's even more impressive is that Lambert's record label, RCA, never announced that the disc could be pre-ordered, which means that the boom in sales is due to word of mouth.
But honestly, I'm not surprised. The Glamberts just can't wait to sink their teeth into more Adam. And for those of you who can't wait until November, Adam will be releasing a single from the movie soundtrack for 2012, which will mark his first official post-American Idol debut. The movie is due out on November 13, but Adam's song, "Time For Miracles," is expected to be released sometime in mid-to-late October.
I bet it will do better than AI winner Kris Allen's current single, "Live Like We're Dying" is doing. Allen plummeted to Number 30 on the iTunes top sales chart, and he's ranking at a lowly number 54 as of today on Amazon's bestseller list for his upcoming CD. I'm also not sure why the powers that be chose to have him resurrect a cover song rather than producing something original--seems it would have been better for him to define himself and his own style instead of trying to reinvent someone else's wheel.
Sorry, Kris. I have to say I listened to his single, and it's not bad. But it's just not Adam.

Kris single is better than he sang before. But still its very common and I heard that kind of voice & type of music lots of anywhere. Adam is amazing because of his unique voice, performance and style. Adam is a complete package.

Yes, Kris single has improved. But I am not an admirer because we already heard him in live, and he is not a good singer. This single had become better because it was improved by studio,the sound and voice had been definitely enhanced.

There is no doubt that Adam is the one headed to world fame. I am buying everything he ever records. I will never get tired of his beautiful voice. I hope RCA does not forget that we want a video as well. I listened to Kris single and then listened to the the original and to me it sound like Kris just sang over the original.I never expected him to have much success but the tour and this new recording show just how bad he is. Arkansas is where he belongs.
The tour and ordered sale proved that Adam had been cheated with the title. But it doesn't matter, cause Adam is not the American idol. He is the World Idol.
Adam left many people behind. He is forever the front runner even AI, AT&T & Arkansas cheated him.

I wish we could praise Adam and be happy for him without saying negatives about Kris. Unfortunately, the crazy outcome of AI precludes this...if Adam had been rightfully the American Idol, none of this conversation or comparison would be taking place. So Kris' win was a double edged sword for him. Sure he won, but he'll foreever be compared to 2nd place Adam. Kris is a nice kid, and his positive attitude towards Adam during the competition is a major plus for me.
This will show people that winning American Idol does not mean you are more talented than the runner up.
Kris is amazing. I wish people would stop comparing him to Adam. Of course, Adam is great too. We should respect them equally.

I like both Adam and Kris, a little bit of a Kradam fan. However, I am thrilled to see Adam at #1, his fans know that he is an exceptional singer and fully deserves this title.
Unfortunately, the competitive nature of the show sets the two artists up in opposition to each other, with rabid fans keeping the competition going even though the show has ended. They can both be successful on their own terms. Kris may start out under the radar with low expectations as he did on the show, but that might be to his advantage. I am a die hard Adam fan, but I do worry for him and how he will continue to handle such a blizzard of attention and success. He is so grounded, humble and gracious right now. But, everyone wants a piece of him. Being pulled and pushed and in demand 24/7 has got to take a toll. I am hoping they both can keep their heads. Kris should take it slow and write his own songs to record. Maybe his first album won't shatter records, but his second might be better. It would be hard to compare anyone to Adam Lambert. He will be an icon of our time. Be fair to Kris and let him be himself in his own time.

I've said many times I think the outcome of AI this year was the best result possible for Kris. Without the title he would have TOALLY been in the shadow of Adam and NEVER achieved much notariety. He's just too much like so many others in his genre. He's good, but not great. Adam didn't need the win to be iconic, Kris needed it to have a career in the business. I love them both, and wish them both the best careers possible! I have OBSESSED about Adam since seeing him DAY ONE!! End of story.

I don't know how each guy will do in the long run, but one thing I know, popularity is not a measure of talent. Some of the worst performers are extremely popular and some of the greatest never have Top 10 hits.
Does anyone tought there is a Kris Itunes pass that has been selling since end of May? This Itunes pass gives you the first album Kris will release among other stuff. I bought this Itunes pass like many did. Does Adam has one? No! That could be an excellent reason why his Amazon pre-orders are higher than Kris's... duh!
I am so excited for his upcoming album and I am buying it....yey He deserves everythig special. he is one beutiful person, in and out. What he has done on donorschoose.org is so honorable and I respect him for that and mostly I respect him for his extraordinary talent and I wish him all the best.

American Idol 8 is over and soon there will be American Idol 9. The contest is over and what is left is what the artist acheive AFTER being on the show. There is no guaranteed stardom. BUT...there is a chance to do what you can to make it and that is what all the idols even from season 1 are doing...Whether or not Kris' song makes it or even Adam's still will not stop them from acheiving what they love and that is music. All of the idols have given us music all different genres. I am so glad we have all of them to enjoy.

Adam is already on the international charts, and this is word of mouth too, as Kris CD is not out yet Madeline and his first song did not do well since May , besided Adams album from Idol since May creamed him there too. Adam is number one on Amazon, he has topped the charts in Germany, he is in the top 10 on Best Buy, in the top 20 in Japan and the UK and this is just by word of mouth so far. When they start promoting him , it's going to get crazy. Sorry, Madeline, Kris is unfortunatley not doing well in the States and he isnt' even on any charts internationally. Nothing and no one can catch Adam, he will be a trend setter and change the world of music. The greats in the music industry already hail him as Rocks brightest new star. He has so many offers right now, it will take a life time to fill. I actually like both Kris and Adam. Only low class people would attack Kris who seems to be a very sweet and nice person. It seems some Glamberts are still attacking Kris even after the contest has been over for months. Even Adam said he detests sore losers. I am buying both of their cds plus Allisons. The three are friends and Adam and Allison both supported Kris's song on twitter. There are many Adam fans like me who also like Kris. Too bad people like Melanie and other are classes idiots.
What people do not talk about is how the Arkansas cheating hurt Allison. She was sent home the week of "Slow Ride" when she did great. Kris should have gone home that week. The song Kris did with Danny was terrible. It should have been Allison and Adam in the final and we would not have all of the backlash on the internet caused by the fact that Adam should have won and my girl Allison should have been second. I don't go on the internet much but I went to two concerts. Adam brought the house down with his singing and dancing. Adam and Allison were great together on stage and all of the rest were pretty good. Kris was one of the weakest performers, Matt and Danny were better even though I am not a Danny fan and even Anoop tried harder than Kris who did not look at the audience until that awful Hey Jude. I hope Kris fades quickly, not because I want to be mean or think he is a bad person, it is just that what happened was wrong to both Adam and Allison.

I actually like Adam a lot. He's extraordinary. But, I worry for him that he's being overhyped. I'm not worried for Kris. Kris will have a long career in the music industry -- which is what he wanted. His goal was never to be a Superstar. The only bitterness I feel is directed toward those who belittle one of the nicest, most genuine guys in a misguided effort to promote/support Adam. It's just completely unnecessary, not to mention, mean spirited. So no, I'm not laughing. It makes me incredibly sad.

That said, this article is full of crap. Kris' album on Amazon is CLIMBING not falling. Four days ago when Adam's went up for pre-order Kris was sitting in the high 300s and now he's in the top 60. Now that tells me Adam fans are purchasing Kris' CD in support of Kris or the Kris fans are ordering to try to compete with Adam. Either way it's a good thing for Kris. As for his single he fell to #60 over the weekend and is now at #38.
Kris will be fine. Tearing him down won't make Adam more successful. Just like the Kris fans tearing down Adam won't make Kris more successful.

@Sarah - I agree with 80% of your comment. The only part I disagree with (at least at the time of this comment post) -- I don't see any Allen fans slamming Adam. Maybe the author of the article, maybe some of the nasty comments dissing Kris, but not Adam. Adam doesn't deserve it. He's been nothing but supportive of his friend, which makes most Allen fans love him even more.
All the comments about them being two different "types". What was Mad World? Was that hard rock? Adam can sing Opera. The only thing us bitterberts are saying is that AI is a singing contest. It is about voice, range, breath control, and the best SINGER on the show was Adam. If you just want a home slice then don't have a singing contest and don't pretend that it is one. It was a joke when Taylor Hicks won over Chris Daughtry. And in my opinion Kris is another Taylor Hicks. He is probably a nice person but he said it himself, "Adam deserved this". I am not insecure about Adam or his career. I would love him to go platinum before the CD is released. Adam is a great and gracious person. That is why everyone loves him so. Nothing can change that.
I am a huge Adam fan but I also like Kris and I have been watching both his and Allison's albums on Amazon. I never doubted that Adam would outsell Kris (as well as probably all other Idols although it's really too soon to be saying that) but pitting Kris against Adam is childish and serves no purpose. I like Kris' single too. For the first time in Idol history I'm going to be buying 3 debut albums: Adam's, Kris' and Allison's. They are all good friends and incredibly nice people and I love all 3 of them.
It's quite obvious that all of Adam's fans are going to vote their asses off in every online poll and for every online award, and buy everything he has for sale, just to prove to the world he's the "winner." But this doesn't really represent actual popular opinion. Just the tone of this article shows that Adam's fans are still bitter. It's all "Ha-ha, Adam is outselling Kris."

Kris Allen's album was already available for preorder with itunes back in July. Most of Kris's fan bought it then. And it was in the top ten sellers at the time. This is the first time Adam's album has been made available. so apples and oranges. Seriously, lady get a life. Kris and Adam are no longer in competition. Get over it
