Cheap thrills (literally) at Six Flags Magic Mountain

Get an annual pass for the price of one day!

In recent years, Magic Mountain –a Six Flags theme park located in Valencia, just northwest of LA- has been offering an annual pass for the same price as one day’s entrance (about $60).  If you’re just visiting the area and an annual pass doesn’t suit you, you can save up to $30 by purchasing your day pass online and printing it out from home.

However, if you live in the LA area, I strongly recommend the annual pass. This year, Six Flags has sweetened the pot by offering a savings book for use in the park worth $400.  This savings book does not include the free day pass to Hurricane Harbor -a water park owned by Six Flags that is just adjacent to MagicMountain- and the 4 free tickets for friends that this AnnualPass consists of.

It seems that MagicMountain has fallen on hard times.  There is a general air of financial hardship that is evidenced in advertisements by brands such as Cornuts and Lunchables plastered all over the park.  The crowds of guests that I’m used to seeing on any given day at MagicMountain are missing.  This can be a good thing for us natives.  Last weekend, I got to ride Viper 5 times straight without having to wait in line at all!

Or on the downside, the park can go out of business.  Even more reason to get out there and take advantage of the deals that come with an ’09 pass.  After all, it’s up to us, LA, to save MagicMountain form bankruptcy.
