As of Monday, ClayOnline.com, Clay Aiken's official website, has announced that Clay is now signed with Decca Records. The label, which was created in the United Kingdom, is now part of the Universal Music Group.
Decca was established in 1929. It hails itself as the "home of classical music." This iconic label has been home to legends like Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Judy Garland, Louis Armstrong, and Billie Holiday, just to name a few.
The label is also credited with the creation of the original cast album. In 1943, they recorded most of the songs of Rogers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! with original Broadway cast members, as well as the original orchestra.
Current Decca artists include Sting, Boyz II Men, Placido Domingo, and Andrea Bocelli.
Though Decca may not be as well known in the general public as Clay's former label, RCA, this move should be advantageous to the adult contemporary artist. Clay's music is soft and powerful in its style, very similar to other Decca artists.
ClayOnline promises that we'll be hearing new music from Clay in the first half of 2010.

Decca/Universal has a humongous roster of superior entertainers,
Clay Aiken is now one of them...Sting, etc., can vouch, I'm
certain, for the way Decca/Universal handles their varied music and personalities,as well as offering musical freedom from the
norm; I'm glad that Clay decided not to continue his contract with RCA, this is a great move for him. He has a unique voice, few artists exist who when you hear their voice you immediately
recognize who it is - a great talent - also with his incredible range and the fact that Clay can easily control his vocal abilities. I look forward to new music from him in 2010,
and hopefully following that concerts to promote his new music.
Congratulations Clay - excellent news indeed.
This sounds like a much better fit for Clay than RCA, which never fully supported him.
I'm looking forward to what 2010 and the future brings for Clay and his fans. I know I'll be in line for whatever it is.
Congratulations to Clay. This sounds like a good fit for him. He has an amazing voice that can sing just about anything with power and nuances when needed. Looking forward to what comes next in Clay's career.
Excellent news! I would love to hear a great cd of that voice.
This is such wonderful news.
I have loved all of Clay's CD's so far, especially "On My Way Here". Unfortunately with no label support from RCA, a lot of people didn't even realize that Clay had a CD out last year. It's wonderful. But moving forward, this is a much better fit with Universal/Decca. With Clay's amazing voice, I am anxiously awaiting the next CD in 2010. He is such a great singer and an amazing entertainer.
Hugs,
Judy
This is wonderful news. Sounds like a perfect fit for Clay.
It was such a smart move for him to leave RCA and go with Decca.
He has such an amazing voice. Cannot wait for that new CD!!
Congratulations, Clay!!!!!
Am so excited about this news. Clay's talent is unique and his voice is very special -- nothing cookie cutter about it. The rest of the Decca roster tells me these people appreciate a great voice. I can't wait for the results of their first collaboration because, unlike RCA, I think Decca "gets" him. Hoping he gets the kind of promotion he should have had all along. WTG CLAY...and WTG DECCA.
Congratulations and more power to you, Clay!
Looking forward to the new CD in 2010!!!
AS I'VE SAID BEFORE, THE BEST IS YET TO COME , & I THINK IT HAS ARRIVED. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL CONCERNED AT DECCA RECORDS FOR SEEING WHAT A FANTASTIC RECORDING ARTIST CLAY IS. I'M SURE HE WILL DO YOU PROUD.& CONGRATS ARE IN ORDER TO CLAY FOR TAKING CONTROL (WITH GODS HELP )for cutting ties with his former recording co. ,which did nothing to help promote his talent.IKNOW IN MY HEART BOTH CLAY & DECCA WILL NOT REGRET THIS MERGE.
Good luck to Clay!
I am thrilled Clay will be with a new label and I wish him all the best. My favoite album was his last, ON My Way Here, and I look forward to his new music with Decca. Congratulations!
I love Clay Aiken...
His voice is like no other. I hope this is a good move, he needs more people to hear him and what he can do!
Love the Man. Love the Voice. He has done wonders before and he is back to do more. Can't wait for Clay's new music with Decca. Go Clay Go.
Only yesterday I told my husband I figured Clay had returned to obtain higher learning and rest his voice a while (and spend quality time with his son). God must have thought I needed a wee bit of faith & hope, so lo, today look what I've been given!!! It gives me goose bumps! Yay Clay!
So happy for this news of Clay and his signing a new record deal. I have followed many entertainers in my life. The best of the best! But the few times I have been able to see Clay in person has left me stunned. I think he is a true entertainer and has a voice that moves the audience beyond words. I get so tired of the Idol battles. There have been so many wonderful people from Idol but Clay is just in a class by himself. Best wishes to him!
I'm happy to hear that Clay is with a new label. Can't wait for the new cd!
I am thrilled for Clay and Decca. My wife nad I have seen Clay in concert many times and there is just no one better to see in a live performance. Hopefully he will get the support from Decca that he did not get from RCA.
Great news for Clay fans Decca and
Clay should do well he has an amazing voice
and is also a great person| I love to hear him sing|
