Amber Dubois’ body found after police receive tip, press conference (video)
The body of missing 14-year-old Amber Dubois was discovered Saturday, after authorities followed a lead provided by an undisclosed source. Dental records were used to make a positive confirmation Saturday, March 6. 2010. Amber Dubois disappeared on February 13, 2009. Law enforcement have not stated whether the man charged with the murder and rape of 17-year-old Chelsea King, John Gardner, provided the tip to authorities.
Amber Dubois’ skeletal remains were located approximately 25 miles from the location where Chelsea King’ s body was found. Are the two cases connected? Did John Gardner provide authorities with the tip that led to Amber’s body in exchange for a lesser charge? Authorities have not stated who provided the tip and charges have not been filed against Gardner in the Amber Dubois case. However, police have stated that John Gardner is a person of interest and the subject of the investigation regarding Amber Dubois’ abduction and death.
After John Gardner’s arraignment, Amber Dubois’ father, Maurice Dubois spoke to the media and said that they were there to show support to Chelsea King’s family. He also said that police were focusing on Gardner in Amber’s case. After the grim discovery on Saturday, Maurice Dubois spoke at the press conference and thanked the public for searching for Amber.
He stated, “We`d like to thank everybody involved in the search for Amber, the entire community, everybody who helped out in our search efforts.”
The District Attorney’s office has not released any information regarding the tipster or if John Gardner will face additional charges in the Amber Dubois case.
