Renala Braden: Photo State of Tennessee |
A Memphis, Tennessee Amber Alert was issued for a three-year-old boy, Jaylon Redmon. He was kidnapped from h is home on Sunday night, January 3, 2010. The Amber Alert had a successful outcome and little Jaylon was returned to his home, and waiting mother early Monday morning. The accused abductor is 30-year-old Renala Braden, the mother’s boyfriend.
A report by WREG News describes the events as follows. Jaylon’s mother, Marvette Burnside said that she and her boyfriend, Renala Braden, were arguing when he opened the bedroom door, woke up 3 year old Jaylon, and stormed out of the home with him. A statewide Amber Alert had been issued and after five hours, they were found.
According to WREG, now the mother, Marvette Burnside is torn between her feelings for her boyfriend and the law, she has asked police not to charge him. She stated, “My mind is confused right now because I don't know if this will ever happen again. Whatever a person does to me, I just let God handle it. God is the best judge.”
We understand that Marvette may be confused, but she has reportedly admitted that her boyfriend has a temper. The abduction revealed Braden’s prior record as well.
The couple had dated for three months and she was unaware that he had a prior conviction of violence. According to police, Renala Braden fired a gun after arguing with a friend. He was charged with assault. Still, Marvette isn’t convinced that he would ever hurt her child, Jaylon Redmon.
Marvette Burnside may want to consider a Florida incident that transpired, and did not have a happy ending: the case of Richard McTear Jr. and Emanuel Wesley Murray. Like Marvette, Richard McTear dated a woman, Jasmine Bedwell who had a young child.
Emanuel Wesley Murray was born on January 25, 2009. On May 5, 2009, Jasmine Bedwell returned to her Tampa, Florida apartment with baby Emanuel in his car seat. She was met by an angry Richard McTear Jr. who struck Jasmine and threw the baby in his car seat across the room. He took the baby and fled the scene, driving off down the Interstate. At some point, Richard McTear Jr., threw the baby outside the car’s window.
His body was found later that day by a man who was on his way to work.
Marvette may feel that her baby is safe, but she would be wise to take into consideration that Renala Braden has already proved that he will endanger the baby on an impulse. Clearly, he was not thinking straight when he made his way into the child’s bedroom and removed him from his bed and fled with him.
Marvette Burnside stated, “My mind is confused right now, because I don’t know if this will ever happen again,” however it is important to take every step that must be made to ensure that her son is not in the position where something like this would ever happen again.
So far, charges have not been filed against Renala Braden.

Explain to me why she has anything to do with whether or not this man is charged with kidnapping. The boy is not his son. The police should be able to file criminal charges without her help.
