Emily is a community activist with extensive policy and legislative experience in San Francisco city government. She received her Master's of Public Administration degree from SFSU. Her transportation research has won numerous awards, including from the Institute of Transportation Engineers, the CA State University system, and the Air & Waste Management Association.
She is now serving her 3rd term on the Advisory Council of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District. She has also served as Executive Director for Walk San Francisco, Chair of the Bicycle Advisory Committee of the SF Board of Supervisors, and on the Citizen Advisory Councils for the Municipal Transportation Agency and the Better Streets Plan. She's also been employed as a professional transportation planner, Legislative Aide, and governmental policy analyst.
Three years ago, she ran for the BART Board and is contemplating running again in 2010.
