It was just one year ago that I met Coulomb Technologies during Plug In 2008 in San Jose, California.
Well it's been an exciting year for the company as it continues it's aggresive rollout of it's charging infrastructure. It's ChargePoint Networked Charging Stations have just been deployed in downtown Nashville in the new 700 space parking garage located on the Fulton Campus.
The charging stations, available for employee and fleet use have been installed to reduce greenhouse emissions and to raise awareness of readiness for electric vehicles. Coulomb distributor Green Power Technology, the exclusive distributor in the northeast U.S. for the ChargePoint Network charging stations, provided sales and support for this installation.
With a current customer base consisting of 37% from municipalities, 39% from business, 22% from utilities, and 4% from automakers, Coulomb is expanding both nationally and internationally with a growing presence in Europe, which represents about half their opportunities.
While at Plug In 2009, I spoke with Coulomb CEO and Founder Richard Lowenthal about the company's success this past year, including it's European business model, the role of standardization and what's ahead in the next 12 months.
