Brian Leary name ABI President and CEO
Atlanta’s visionary Beltline Project has a new face today, following an announcement from Atlanta Beltline Inc’s board of directors that they have made Brian Leary their newest President and CEO.
Leary’s most recent work as Vice President of Atlantic Station helped develop the former site of a steel mill into the vibrant business, retail and residential area Atlanta residents enjoy today.
In addition to his work at Atlantic Station, Leary has also spoken to groups across the United States on Smart Growth, mixed-use development and emerging trends in land use.
Upon the announcement, Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin applauded Leary as leader worthy of pursuing the Beltline’s unique vision:
“Under Brian’s leadership, I am confident that the Beltline’s momentum will continue to forge ahead with the strong team we have assembled.”
Construction for the Beltline is currently ahead of schedule, with nearly half of the 22-mile corridor having been secured and the project’s first major park under way. Construction of two additional parks is expected to begin soon, and seven miles of interim hiking trails will be open to the public in early 2010.

Good to see more well-thought-out moves by the folks at ABI. Looking forward to hiking the trails next year.
